Take AI on holiday this August

Using AI to plan a last minute summer trip

Summer is in full swing and while the the weather may have picked up over the last couple of days it’s not been the best this year. If you’re feeling the need for some guaranteed sun then why not take a long weekend somewhere warm with the help of AI.

Here’s some tips on how to use ChatGPT to plan a long weekend abroad:

  • Don’t know where to go? Ask ChatGPT the following prompt:
Please ask me a series of questions (one at a time) about what kind of holidays I like in order to produce me a table of places to visit for a weekend break from London where I'll get guaranteed good weather in August. Please format the table as Destination name | Length of flight to get there | Reason to visit.

  • Once you’ve picked a destination ask ChatGPT to produce an itinerary for you trip using the following prompt:
Please make me an itinerary for a weekend break in {destination you’re visiting}.

  • You can help ChatGPT to refine the itinerary by telling it any parts you wish to change or if you have specific types of activities you’d like to include. You might even want to ask it to make sure it includes visiting all the major sights in the destination if that’s something you’re interested in.

  • Ask ChatGPT to tell you if there are any important things you need to know in order to make you trip the best it can be by asking:
Is there anything I should consider while in {destination you’re visiting} to make my trip more enjoyable? Let’s work this out in a step by step way to be sure we have the right answer.

  • This should give you the additional information and context to make sure your trip goes off without a hitch.

If this takes you on any crazy summer adventures, send us photos! (And don’t even try to fake it with Midjourney… we’ll know 🧐)

And finally… make sure your beach read isn’t an AI rip off

Author Jane Friedman recently started receiving messages about her latest book from her fans. The trouble was that she hadn’t written it. It turns out that an enterprising person had used ChatGPT to copy her writing style and produce an entire new book that they were selling under her name on Amazon. The Authors Guild is now working with book sellers to clamp down on these AI fakes but in the meantime you might want to check your favourite writer’s website before buying their latest title.
