Amp Up Your Presentations with Adobe Firefly

Are you a clip art aficionado? Or are your PowerPoint slides usually full of words and short on charm?

Whatever your sin, Adobe Firefly is an AI image generation tool with the power to rescue your drab presentations. Never again will your clients or colleagues have to endure a dull slide.

Launched last week, Firefly is free to use and easy to set up - giving it two clear advantages over rival Midjourney.

The algorithm is trained on Adobe’s massive library of stock photos, but produces less cheesy images that are more relevant to your precise needs. Firefly also has a charming style that helps ensure all generated images have a sense of consistency without the need for complex Midjourney-style prompts, although this does mean the platform has less scope for creativity. As an added bonus, it appears to produce output with better gender and ethnic diversity.

Here’s how we like to use Firefly to liven up a presentation:

  1. Take a slide you’ve recently been working on and write a short sentence that describes the key message of that slide as a photo. For example, we’ve recently been working on a slide that advises our attendees to sanitise sensitive data before pasting it into ChatGPT. I might choose the sentence “person in a hazmat suit with a spray bottle cleaning a computer”.

  2. Go to Firefly, click ‘Text-To-Image’ and enter that sentence. Hit ‘Generate’.

  3. Play around with the options on the right and keep re-generating until you find a visual you like. Download and paste into your slides.

If you generate any award-worthy images, be sure to send them our way!
